What are you feeding your mind?

I enjoy listening to Rick Warren podcasts on my journey to work and recently he has been talking about our minds and what we put them in, looking that what we think leads to what we feel and from there we act. So our actions and feelings all stem first and foremost from what we think. So where do our thoughts come from ? Mostly from what we put in our mind.

For a wise person is hungry for knowledge, while a fool feeds on trash (NLT) An intelligent person in always eager to take in more truth; fools feed on fast-food fads and fancies
(The Message)
— Proverbs 15:14

We are responsible for what we are putting in our minds, what we watch, what we read, what words we hear in our conversations and these things start to sow into our thinking, then our feelings and then our actions. We are also responsible for how we deal with those stray thoughts. Martin Luther said it like this: “You can’t keep the birds from flying over your head, but you can keep them from building a nest in your hair.” When we recognise our negative thinking, ‘…we can take these thoughts captive to make them obedient to Christ’ (2 Cor:10v5). Let us be a wise people who hunger for truth and not feast on fast food fads and be proactive in what we allow our into our minds.
