Hope Community Church is proud to partner with a number of fantastic projects and organisations across Basingstoke that all aim to serve the town in different ways. Below is some information about each of them and links to where you can find out more.
The Besom
Poverty, isolation, abuse & homelessness are some of the injustices of life that we see all around us. We have been commissioned by God to “remember the poor” and many of us want to do something, to get involved, but we don’t know how to. The Besom in Basingstoke, set up in 2005, exists to help you make a difference to the lives of others, whether you’re 3 years old or over 80, working full time, part time, between jobs or retired, or a student. Besom provides a bridge between those who want to give time, money, things or skills and those who are in need, for free.

The dwelling place
The Dwelling Place is a social action project, supported by Hope, with the sole aim of providing supported housing accommodation for former rough sleepers, or people who would otherwise be at risk of street homelessness, in Basingstoke.
Our aim is to bring acceptance, respect and restoration for those recovering from life’s traumas, assisting them with learning life skills on a road to wholeness and independence with renewed self esteem.

Street pastors
The Street Pastors initiative has been running Basingstoke since 2008. Every Friday and Saturday night, volunteers from churches across the town, step into the night life of Basingstoke to bring God’s love to the revellers who are out in and around the bars and night clubs in the town. Based out of the URC church in London Street, and wearing their distinctive uniforms, these Street Pastors go out armed with bags full of lollipops, flip-flops & bottled water seeking to offer practical help and support to anyone who might need it.
