This week I have been reading some more Proverbs. It is generally believed that King Solomon wrote the majority of this ‘book of wisdom’. It’s not surprising really since he asked God for wisdom when he became King of Israel. Ch 3 contains this little nugget...

Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to act.
— Proverbs 3:27 The NIV Bible

This single proverb maybe small and yet it’s profound! We have the power to do both good and evil: To give or take away; to encourage or discourage; to build or destroy. That can be done in what we say and in what we do. Life is full of times when we have choices like this to make. The proverb says, when facing these opportunities; don’t hold back from doing something good. Let me both challenge and encourage you to have your ‘radar up’ and be sensitive to what God is saying. When opportunities like this arise, use your ‘power’ to not hold back from doing good. If we all lived like that, just think what life could be like!
