Wise words

This week I have been reading Proverbs. This is an OT book of wise words, full of short, compact statements that express a truth about human behaviour. The book’s prologue invites the reader to learn and apply the wisdom found within its pages in all aspects of life. In chapter 3 it says...

Trust God from the bottom of your heart; don’t try to figure out everything on your own. Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; he’s the one who will keep you on track. Don’t assume that you know it all.
— Proverbs 3: 5-7 The Message Bible

How often do you try to do things on your own? I know I do! There are aspects to this, which are of course good, as we learn through this. However, the negative is an ‘independence’ from God. The Bible says that we were created for relationship with God, and so to deny that is to disregard our God created DNA. We are made to collaborate with God, to communicate with Him. Don’t try to live independent from God, trust Him, listen to Him as He will keep you on track!
