The Interview
This week the world watched as Harry & Meghan held a unique interview with Oprah Winfrey. In the two-hour interview they covered a variety of subjects and shared personal information.
It was compelling viewing watched by millions. Since the broadcast there has been huge reactions and coverage in all forms of media.
I have not watched the whole interview yet, but the bits I have seen I was intrigued and even quite shocked at what I heard. I also found myself asking many questions! To be honest, I’m not sure what I make of it all?
As my head span, I was reminded very clearly of the words of Jesus, who said…
“Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way as you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”
It could be very easy for me to play judge in this situation! I could focus on certain things that were said and form an opinion and view based on what I heard.
But the words of Jesus challenge that way of thinking. He said don’t judge! If I do, then it means I’ll be judged in the same way!
So, what should I do? Firstly, I should leave the judging to God, as He alone knows the whole story.
Secondly, I should pray for all those involved, who I don’t know, that there would be peace, healing and restoration. After all they are just people, like you and me!
And thirdly, I should pay attention to my own life; seeking to live it out in a way that is both pleasing and honouring to God.
