Renew

This week I have been reading 2 Chronicles.

This Old Testament book is the second instalment of the account of the kings of Judah. Chapter 34 tells of king Josiah, who reigned in Jerusalem (roughly) from 835 to 796 BC. He was a good king who came to the throne when he was just eight years old! When he was 16, he started to purge Judah from ungodly places of worship and to rebuild the temple. Whilst doing so, He came across the ‘Book of the Law’, which unfortunately had been lost and forgotten about. When king Josiah read it he was shocked how far Judah had ‘slipped’ from following God’s ways and immediately did something about it...

The king stood by his pillar and renewed the covenant in the presence of the Lord - to follow the Lord and keep his commands, statutes and decrees with all his heart and all his soul, and to obey the words of the covenant written in this book.
— 2 Chronicles 34:31 The NIV Bible

Once he had read the ‘Book of the Law’, Josiah was quick to get right with God! Life can get busy and that connection with to God can get lost and forgotten? Well today, I encourage you to be like Josiah: get right with God now! It’s time to rediscover, reconnect and renew your relationship with God.
