Jesus Forever

This week I saw something I have never seen before! I was reading the book of John. This is the fourth book in the New Testament and is a very personal eye-witness account of the author who was probably the closest friend/disciple of Jesus. Chapters 13-17 are mostly a monologue from Jesus at the ‘Last Supper’, where he explained what was about to happen to Him. Chapter 17 Jesus prays to Father God and the end of it He says...

And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began.
— John 17:5 The NIV Bible

I had never noticed that before. Jesus refers to his eternal state ‘before’ the world began! In those few words we are reminded of the ‘Big Picture’. Here was Jesus the man, in Jerusalem, with his friends, just hours before His betrayal and death. However, this same Jesus is part of the Godhead, and was around before the earth, sun, moon and stars were created - mind-blowing! And it’s this same Jesus who is alive today, back in this ‘glorious state’ as a man and as God. Wowzers!
