A hope and a future
This week I have been reading Jeremiah. He was a prophet in the Old Testament who spoke God’s ‘word’ to Judah when they were under siege and eventually defeated by the Babylonian army. It was a desperate and hopeless time for God’s people as their constant rejection of His ways led them to being destroyed. However, in the midst of this suffering and pain God spoke words of hope about their future...
“For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
In the midst of Judah’s turmoil, these words must have felt like a lifeline! God had not forsaken them completely. He had things in store for them ahead that were good and something to look forward to. This prophetic word, pointing to a better future, brought hope to a lost people. God has a plan for your life too! His plans are good - because He is good! Like Judah of old, this is revealed when you turn to God and submit yourself to Him. Let me encourage you to trust and obey God today, as His plans will give you hope and a future...
