5 things you can do in lockdown 2.0

on-the-phone.jpg

We are now into our second week on Lockdown 2.0... how you doing? I have spoken to a few people who said that they are finding these month-long restrictions harder than before. Could it be the change in season, with darker colder nights? I often don’t know what day of the week it is!

At least there are some positives: ‘Strictly’, ‘I’m a Celebrity’ and ‘The Crown’ are all back on! And have you spotted some people have even put their Christmas decorations up!

As we continue this long journey, what can help us to keep going on? I read this in the book of Hebrews in the Bible which really inspired me...

So now we must cling tightly to the hope that lives within us, knowing that God always keeps his promises! Discover creative ways to encourage others and to motivate them toward acts of compassion, doing beautiful works as expressions of love. This is not the time to pull away and neglect meeting together, as some have formed the habit of doing, because we need each other!
— Hebrews 10:23-25 The Passion Bible

I love this translation; the text is so real and alive! In this passage are five easy and practical things we can do:

  1. Don’t let go of, but hold closely to the hope we have in our promise keeping God*.

  2. Ask God for creative ways to stay connected, as we can’t meet face to face.

  3. We may be at home, but don’t withdraw. Instead be proactive and use all this amazing technology to stay in touch with people. You can still call someone on the phone!

  4. Ask God to prompt you daily about contacting someone - then do it!

  5. Remember...WE NEED EACH OTHER!

*If you don’t yet know God personally, please feel free to contact me as I would love to introduce you to Jesus...
