No Jesus No Christmas
Can you imagine what life would be like if there was no Christmas! There would be:
No decorated trees in our homes.
No ‘Last Christmas’, ‘Merry Xmas Everyone’ or ‘Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.’
No John Lewis adverts, King’s speech or re-runs of The Snowman.
No work Christmas parties, drinking mulled wine and mince pies over the photocopier.
No turkey, pigs in blankets or Brussel sprouts.
No school Nativity plays with myriads of angels, shepherds, wise men, donkey and star.
No twinkling lights, on houses, shops and in our streets.
No friends and family get togethers, in Christmas jumpers, party hats and playing games.
No ‘Home Alone’, ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’ or ‘Die Hard’.
No elves, reindeer, Nutcracker or Santa.
No carol services or Midnight mass.
No shepherds, no wise men, no Bethlehem, and no birth of Jesus!
I’m sure you could add some more to the list! Life without Christmas would be so dull! To be honest, there are some parts of Christmas I could leave and do without.
But there is, of course, one thing that is essential to Christmas. If this did not happen then there would be none of the festive traditions.
Over 2000 years ago, in a little nowhere town, a child born to poor, young parents, who were staying in cattle shed. This baby grew up and changed the world… this was the birth of Jesus.
The Bible reveals Jesus. From the predictions of his arrival, his amazing birth to all he did and said as a man, his death, his resurrection and return to heaven. It all says that he will return one day ushering in a new era!
To sum up what Jesus is all about can be found in the book of John…
In other words, if there was no Jesus, we would not know of God’s love, grace, mercy, kindness, forgiveness, compassion, hope, peace, joy and salvation. All this was revealed in Jesus!
God loves you! He sent Jesus, as a baby, born to Mary in Bethlehem as a sign of that love. His intent was that through Jesus, you could be reunited with Him, now and for all eternity.
I pray that you will discover the source of Christmas for yourself… Jesus.
God bless you :)
