Blah Blah Blah
During the recent COP26 summit in Glasgow, Greta Thunberg described it as more 'blah, blah, blah' after a new global climate deal was agreed.
The 18-year-old Swedish climate change activist, took to Twitter to urge her followers to 'never give up, ever' and that the 'real work continues outside these halls'.
What she was saying was, don’t just talk about change, demonstrate it by your actions! Her message rings true with something I read in a New Testament letter in the Bible....
This letter was written by James, who was probably the brother of Jesus, and was a leader in the early church in Jerusalem. It was written around 60AD and sent to the Christians who were living away from Jerusalem to encourage them.
James said that a Christian’s faith should be evident by what they do. In other words, it’s not just about believing something, or thinking a certain way, but should be seen in behaviour and activity.
As God has changed me internally, I have sort to make differences in many areas of my life externally, such as, what I do with my money, time and resources. My faith has affected my actions.
It’s not just me, as there are many other Christians, in our church and across our town, who do loads things! These people give and serve together in a wide variety of charities and projects in and around Basingstoke.
It’s not just 'blah, blah, blah'... it’s faith shown by deeds!
God bless
